Issa Boullata, Professor Emeritus of Arabic Literature and Qur'anic Studies at McGill University's Institute of Islamic Studies, died peacefully on May 1, 2019. He was an active member of MESA, serving on several committees since joining in 1969. He received the 2004 MESA Mentoring Award.
