Visiting Lecturer in Middle Eastern and North African Studies (Arabic language and literature) for January 2025

The Middle Eastern and North African Studies Program at Bowdoin College invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible visiting lecturer position in Arabic language and literature for the spring 2025 semester and the 2025-26 academic year with the possibility of a second full year pending review and reappointment. The appointment begins January 13, 2025. The teaching load is five courses per year; the blend of language and literature courses will depend on the lecturer’s interests and qualifications combined with curricular needs. An advanced degree, MA or PhD, in Arabic or a related discipline is required by the date of appointment. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.

The targeted hiring salary range for this appointment based on the position requirements is $70,000 – $74,000.
