In recognition of his exceptional service to MESA and to the field of Middle East studies; With deep appreciation for his generous and creative contributions of time and thought to numerous organizations, particularly those involved in the study of Turkey and Turkish language; His exceptional accomplishments and devotion as a colleague and teacher in the university setting; and his active involvement as a profoundly knowledgeable and enthusiastic lecturer to scholarly audiences and the general public. It is an honor to recognize Richard L. Chambers,  an always gracious colleague whose work has enhanced Middle East studies institutions and understanding of the region.
